Sharol married David Cottingham in 1978 and they have one daughter, ShaLyn, who is a School Counselor in Mustang.

Sharol is a charter member of Southpark Baptist Church, coming from the parent church of Regency Park Baptist in Moore. She has taught in the youth and preschool areas, but her true love and calling is the Preschool Ministry. That is where the foundations are laid for a future life of commitment to the Lord. She was the Preschool Ministry Coordinator 1993-2002 and the Preschool and Children’s Ministry Coordinator from 2004-2012.

Sharol has been involved in ministries across the state of Oklahoma. She was secretary for the Oklahoma Baptist Part-Time and Volunteer Preschool and Children’s Directors. She was a State Consultant for Preschool Ministries for the BGCO. Sharol was also the treasurer for the Southern Baptist Bi-vocational Ministers Association for several years. Currently she is Union Baptist Association’s VBS Director and has taught Associational VBS training clinics for at least the last 16 years.
